Sprint Orienteering in Gran Canaria
On Saturday 19th June new orienteering club O-riéntate and Active Canaria held Gran Canaria's first ever Sprint Race on Allan Bogle's new map (Gran Canaria's first ISSOM map and also Europe's most Southern orienteering map.
Orienteering Faro 2
On Saturday the 19th of June, O-riéntate and Active Canaria will hold Gran Canaria's first ever Sprint orienteering race on Europe's most Southern orienteering map, Faro 2 in Maspalomas.
New orienteering map on Gran Canaria (La Caderilla: 1800m above sea-level)
Active Canaria has just finished its latest map, La Caderilla. This is an up-dated version of Ramón García's 1998 Limonium Canarias' map.
La Caderilla is 1800m above sea-level and has some lovely areas of runnable pine forest.
Lizzy Hawker Trains in Gran Canaria
Former World 100km Champion and UTMB (Ultra Trail Mont Blanc) winner Lizzy Hawker has just spent the last 2 weeks training in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Lizzy first came to Gran Canaria at the begining of March to run Trans Gran Canaria, a 123km trail race that she easily won. So impressed with what the island to offer Lizzy returned to prepare for next month's London Marathon, and the Comrades Marathon in South Africa.
Port Half Marathon 2010
Race Information:
On May 16th 2010, the 6th Las Palmas Port Marathon will be held. The courses take runners around the port of Las Palmas. With Gran Canaria´s fabulous climate this race offers runners with the chance to combine sun worshipping with the chance of running a PB on this very fast course.

Former Junior World Orienteering Champion and Park World Tour winner Johan Näsman is the latest orienteering superstar to choose Gran Canaria as his winter sun training destination.
Müller and Leonhardt win in Tamadaba
Swiss orienteering star Matthias Müller and Austrian orienteer Karin Leonhardt both came out on top in Tamadaba today. Matthias won the 7km H21course in a very impressive time of 38 mintues beating Active Canaria's Allan Bogle by over 2 minutes. Karin's win was equally as impressive winning D21 on the same course as the H21 in just under 60 minutes, beating most of the men.
