Maps on Gran Canaria
NOTE: the maps with samples have all been drawn by and are owned by Active Canaria (apart from Arucas)
1. Tamadaba
Scale- 1:10000 and 1:5000
Year- 2009
Terrain- This a lovely pine forest at 1400m above sea-level. It can be steep in places however it is pretty runnable throughout. There are some flatter areas of good contour detail.

2. Maspalomas
Scale- 1:10000
Year- 2009
Terrain- This is quite typical Spanish terrain (its rocky and bushy in places), however there are areas of really good runnability and offers good route choice.

3. Faro 2
Scale- 1:5000
Year- 2010
Terrain- Faro 2 is the ideal sprint area. It offers fast running and interesting orienteering in a relatively car free zone.

4. Ingenio
Scale- 1:3000
Year- 2011
Terrain- This is a very interesting urban sprint area with lots of narrow cobbled streets few cars.

5. Arucas
Scale- 1:10000
Year- 2010
Terrain- This is one of Gran Canaria's older maps. The terrain can be a little bushy in places however in a decent place to train. Some small up-dates have taken place in 2011.

6. Llano de las Pez
Scale- 1:7500/ 1:2000
Year- 2010
Terrain- The latest map to be up-dated in Gran Canaria. This is a very runnable pine forest at 1600m, with a some areas of amazing detail.

7. La Caderilla
Scale- 1:10000
Year- 2010
Terrain- La Caderilla is Gran Canaria's highest map (1800m). It is a combination of runnable pine forest and some typical volcanic terrain.

Buying maps
There are approximately 15 different maps on the island of differring standard, at the moment Active Canaria owns 7 of these maps Tamadaba (1) Maspalomas (2), Faro2 (3), Ingneio (4), Arucas (5), Llanos de la Pez (6) and La Caderilla (7). These are all newly up-dated maps (winter 2010/11).
However you can contact Active Canaria to buy any map on Gran Canaria.
The minium order is 15€ (plus 2.50€ for Postage & Packaging). Any order under 15€ will be charged at 15€ + P&P.
