Gran Canaria Marathon 2011

 

EUROPE'S MOST SOUTHERN ROAD MARATHON

Introduction

On the 23^rd January the second Gran Canaria Marathon will be held in Las Palmas. Being Europe's most southern road marathon and with average January temperatures being above 20°C it is easy to see why over 3000 runners from 26 countries chose this marathon last winter.

Marathon:

If you like the idea of running a marathon in January without your hat, gloves and thermal top then the Gran Canaria Marathon is for you. The Marathon's flat course winds its way through the historic centre of Las Palmas and then takes runners along the sea front at Las Canteras beach (one of the World's best urban beaches).

 

Half marathon:

The half marathon follows the same route as the marathon through Las Palmas, and it is just the right sort of course to aim for a PB.

 

10km:

Tagged as a 'fun run' this race attracted some very stiff competition in 2010 making it equally as challenging for the average fun runner and the serious athlete alike.

GRAN CANARIA MARATHON 2011

First of all Active Canaria would like to apologise to those of you that have sent event enquiries about the Gran Canaria Marathon and have not received a reply. The organisation committee of the marathon have come across some problems this year (due to funding, I believe) and have not been replying to any of our emails and phone calls, and at one stage it was unsure if the event would actually take place.

 

This week we have been ensured that the race will take place as planned on Sunday 23^rd of January, and Active Canaria are very confident that the event will be the success it was in 2010.

 

OUR PACKAGES

Due to the late confirmation of the Marathon taking place we have decided to ‘streamline’ our packages for this weekend.

 We will be offering two main packages, GOLD and SILVER along with several services.
